The Saskatchewan Food Industry Development Centre acknowledges that we operate within Treaty territories and the traditional homeland of the Métis. We honour the Indigenous communities and Métis peoples as the original stewards of this land.
The Food Centre strives to advance reconciliation in alignment with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action. We are committed to providing cultural competency and reconciliation training for our staff and leadership to strengthen our understanding of Indigenous history, treaty relationships, and rights.
We actively support Indigenous participation in the Canadian agri-food and value-added sector through intentional connection and collaboration with Indigenous communities. We aim to continually broaden opportunities for Indigenous communities, organizations, and entrepreneurs within the industry.
We recognize that reconciliation is an ongoing responsibility and we are committed to building respectful relationships with Indigenous communities and the lands they have been stewards of since time immemorial. The equality of Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples will form the foundation for thriving relationships at the individual and national levels as we work toward a more inclusive and equitable food industry.
“Honouring ancestral land stewardship to strengthen national food sovereignty.”
