Food Crop Quality Program
Helping to identify opportunities in the development of plant-based ingredients/products
The Food Crop Quality Program is a new program offered by the Food Centre with the mission to add in best management practices for Canadian food-grade crops and to help the development of plant-based ingredients/products in the food industry. The program focuses on crop quality evaluation and related standardized methodology development for high throughput screening purposes. The recent focus of the program is pulse crops.
The Pulse Quality Project was launched in the spring of 2022 with a partnership between Saskatchewan Pulse Growers and the Food Centre. The project will develop a comprehensive database of composition, functionality, and nutrition for pulses through a genotype by environment evaluation (GxE).
