The Saskatchewan Food Industry Development Centre (Food Centre) is seeking to hire a Team Lead to lead our Food Safety and Skills Development Program. This role will be responsible for the coordination and development of the Food Centre’s initiatives and programs focused on food safety and quality, both internally and in support of the growing food industry in Saskatchewan. In addition, the Team Lead will:
- periodically review the industry status and develop programs in food safety and quality to benefit the Saskatchewan agri-food industry.
- be required to manage additional personnel which may be required to fulfill the program objectives.
- be responsible for oversight of the development and management of the Food Inspection Services business which provides inspection services and operational procedures for meat and/or food inspection services delivery within the Province of Saskatchewan.
- be required to provide assistance to the Food Centre and its clients with associated food safety and regulatory issues which may include hands on assistance, auditing, reviewing of programs and operating procedures.
- will serve as the expert point of contact for the National and International industry regulations and developments at the Food Centre.
Qualifications and Skills for the Position:
- B.Sc. in Food Science, Food Engineering, Food Safety, Microbiology and/or closely related fields and 6+ years of work experience.
- Graduate degrees in Food Safety, Quality Control and/or related fields will be preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical area such as laboratory management, quality management systems, R&D, product development, and/or food process engineering.
- A background in food safety, quality control, regulatory science, quality assurance and process troubleshooting will be preferred.
- A background in audit, certification, GFSI, FSSC, ISO, BRC, HACCP, CanadaGAP, GMP and other food safety systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills with the ability to distill complex food safety, inspection, auditing, program development information into easily understood, accessible language
- A team player who engages with internal teams and external collaborators.
- Strong technical writing and proposal writing/reporting experience and proven success in project execution.

The Food Centre is an industry leader in developing new products and technologies for the Agri-food sector and has an immediate opening for a full time position in Maintenance.
The position will assist in general equipment servicing, routine maintenance of facilities and equipment.
Applicants should have a minimum of 2 years experience or equivalent training in a related field in maintenance, be mechanically inclined with a good knowledge of equipment functions (electrical/electronic, pneumatic, and mechanical) and general building repairs. They must be able to self manage themselves with a willingness to learn, basic computer skills and maintain a log book is required. The position requires a Journeymen certificate in electrical or Millwright

We on seeking to hire a Food Process Engineer. This position will be responsible in providing engineering support for all of the Food Centre programs (extrusion, ingredients, product development, fermentation and bioengineering, etc.) and will help troubleshooting, and debottlenecking various processes in food production. In addition, the position will:
- support managing process flows, engineering reports, project schedules, inspections, and project data/economic analysis.
- work closely with the Advanced Food Ingredients Centre (AFIC-2) team to design and execute projects and will require excellent technical, program development, organizational, and communication skills.
- assist the Food Centre with the new capital projects as engineering lead for cross-functional teams.
The Food Process Engineer will be required to manage clients in the following key focus areas: process design and advanced manufacturing, data driven process analytics, techno-economic analysis, life cycle analysis and sustainability, and process authority services. As part of the job responsibilities, the candidate will help the Food Centre expand value-added processing both internally and in support of the growing food industry in Saskatchewan.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Sc. in Food & Agricultural Engineering and/or closely related fields.
- Graduate degree is preferred.
- 3+ years of work experience in the food industry will be an asset.

This position will assist current and future Food Centre clients with their food production projects with a focus on meat production as well as other food products. As part of our Food Centre team, you will responsible for assisting clients in their production and equipment operation as well as shipping/receiving, inventory control, documentation, QA/QC duties, and other duties as required. This position reports to the Pilot Plant Manager and may lead into a leadership role for the right candidate.
